Client Brief

This sleek, chic and modern garden inspired by the Barbican Centre was designed to reflect the modern architecture of the house.

The client requested that this small angular garden had a patio area large enough to entertain guests and for the children to play in. There was also a request for an outdoor kitchen space for barbecues, large swaths of planting and a path to reach the garden lodge being built by the client.

Overview

The prominent feature in this garden is the cast concrete barbecue unit. Cast onsite by us, it houses a Kamado Joe Barbecue giving ample space for food preparation and drinks.

The patio and path were created using hand cut quarry tiles laid at a 45-degree angle to the house. The pattern flows right through the patio and along the pathways.

The garden is almost a 50/50 mix of hard landscaping and planting which helps make the garden feel bigger and increases the biodiversity of this urban site.

Also included in this project is a 13-point remotely switched lighting system and an automatic watering system.
